An invitation
There is nothing here to achieve.
No story to tell.
No insight to find.
No experience to force.
Only an invitation to meet your body with steadiness, patience, and care.
Created and facilitated by Angela M Carter, IFS and Trauma Therapist
When the body feels tense, alert, shut down, or unable to rest, understanding what is happening is often not enough. What is needed is a way for the nervous system to settle, without effort, analysis, or emotional processing.
Adaptive Holding Centres is a gentle meditation series created to support the body in returning to a sense of steadiness and safety through presence rather than effort.
This series is especially suited to people who feel overwhelmed, emotionally overloaded, anxious, disconnected from their body, or simply tired in a way that rest does not touch.
RECLAIM YOUR LIFEAdaptive Holding Centres invites you into a steady, grounding practice where the body is given time and space to settle.
This is not a journey of analysing the past or revisiting difficult experiences. It is an invitation to meet the places within the body where life has been held, carried, and adapted to, often quietly and without choice.
Through a series of guided meditations, you are supported to reconnect with your body in a way that feels safe, respectful, and unhurried. Each meditation works with a specific holding centre, an area of the body where experience has been organised over time in order to cope, protect, or endure.
Rather than asking the body to release or change, this programme offers presence. Rather than effort, it offers space.
Adaptive Holding Centres offers a quiet, body led way of supporting nervous system settling through steady awareness rather than effort.
Each meditation rests attention with a specific area of the body, using breath, sensation, and spatial awareness. There is no visualisation, emotional processing, or need to make sense of what is happening. The body is trusted to respond in its own time and in its own way.
With regular use, this approach can support a greater sense of steadiness, grounding, and internal ease, especially for those who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unable to fully rest.
Many approaches ask us to do more, understand more, or go deeper.
This series does something different.
It trusts the intelligence of the nervous system. It recognises that the body adapted for a reason, and that change happens most sustainably when safety and neutrality are present.
This is a practice of allowing rather than fixing.
Foundations of Safety and Support
This meditation supports the body to settle into a sense of physical safety and support. It works with the lower regions of the body where stability, grounding, and basic safety are often held. This practice is especially supportive when the body feels unsettled, unsteady, or unable to rest.
Attachment, Needs, and Emotional Flow
This meditation works with the area of the body related to movement, needs, and the capacity to receive. It gently supports softening around effort, holding, and restriction. This practice can be helpful when there is a sense of pushing, bracing, or difficulty allowing ease.
Agency, Will and Protection
This meditation focuses on areas where strength, control, and endurance are often held. It offers space for the body to ease patterns of over holding and self containment. This practice supports letting go of the need to stay strong or manage everything alone.
Connection, Grief and Integration
This meditation supports awareness in the chest and breath. It gently creates space around connection and emotional holding without asking anything to change. This practice can be supportive when breathing feels restricted or emotions feel close to the surface.
Expression, Truth and Safety in Voice
This meditation works with the throat and neck area, where expression and restraint are often held. It supports settling around effort related to speaking, holding back, or staying quiet. This practice allows expression to rest without requiring words or action.
Perception, Meaning and Inner Trust
This meditation supports calming of mental activity and constant vigilance. It works with the upper regions of the body associated with focus, scanning, and alertness. This practice is helpful when the mind feels busy, watchful, or unable to switch off.
Integration, Regulation and Harmony
This meditation supports the body as a whole rather than any single area. It focuses on integration, coordination, and global regulation. This practice is helpful when the system feels fragmented, overwhelmed, or out of sync.
Expansion, Transendence, Meaning
This meditation supports spacious awareness while remaining grounded in the body. It gently introduces a broader perspective without losing physical presence. This practice is helpful when the system is settled enough to explore space and awareness with ease.
This collection may be supportive if you notice that your body tends to hold or brace in certain areas, or if your system stays alert, withdrawn, or unable to fully settle.
It is suited to those who are drawn to a quiet, non intrusive practice that supports nervous system settling through presence rather than effort, and that can be used gently at home, in your own time.

I will guide you through the Adaptive Holding Centres series, a gentle, body-led meditation practice designed to support nervous system regulation and a return to steady presence.
I am an Internal Family Systems therapist with over 30 years of experience in trauma recovery, somatic embodiment, and soul-led healing. My approach is grounded in both clinical depth and spiritual resonance, weaving together the Internal Family Systems model, Polyvagal Theory, the neurobiology of trauma, and quantum principles of change and coherence.
This work is deeply informed by the teachings of pioneers such as Dr Gabor Maté, Bessel van der Kolk, Dr Richard C. Schwartz, Dr Stephen Porges, Peter Levine, and Dr Joe Dispenza, blending ancient wisdom with cutting-edge neuroscience and quantum science to support genuine transformation.
The Adaptive Holding Centres series is where science and embodied awareness come together, and where the body is met with steadiness, respect, and care. This work invites healing through presence rather than effort, allowing the nervous system to settle and reorganise in its own time. I am honoured to walk alongside you in this practice.
Invest In Your Future Self Today“Meditation takes us from survival to creation, from separation to connection, from imbalance to balance, from emergency mode to growth-and-repair mode, and from the limiting emotions of fear, anger, and sadness to the expansive emotions of joy, freedom, and love.” Dr Joe Dispenza
