NICE TO MEET YOU

I'm Angel M. Carter

After more than thirty years as a therapist and social worker, I saw the same truth again and again: traditional approaches often missed the deeper parts of people’s pain. Survivors of trauma and relational harm were left feeling unseen, and many therapists felt unprepared to support them fully.

That realisation led me to seek out training with world-leading institutions including the IFS Institute, the HeartMath Institute, and the Trauma Research Foundation. Through these experiences, and through my own lived journey of relational healing. I found a framework that brought together science, compassion, and the harmonisation of all parts.

Now I use what I’ve learned to help both clients and therapists. Through Concinnity®, the professional training arm of the Trauma Release Centre, I offer workshops, specialist trainings, and supervision that bring Internal Family Systems to life in real, practical ways.

What Professionals Say about IFS and Concinnity® Trainings

“IFS offers a remembering, a shimmering, benevolent, and skilled landscape that we once knew but had lost access to amidst the mist. Within this work, the kiritaki (client) and I, remember and inhabit our shared humanity, moving beyond the problem saturated and diagnostic positioning so often defined by DSM language. Introducing IFS enlivens a diverse and intelligent internal community within the kiritaki, now recognised with compassion and curiosity.

For me, this deepens trust in Self and in the protectors, exiles, and firefighters that make up the inner system. It offers a language, insight, and orientation that allow both kiritaki and therapist to explore the world with compassionate regard for all parts. In doing so, the world of recovery expands, rich with new possibilities, the legacies of the kiritaki, the promises held in the states of Mauri, the pursuit of wellbeing, and the ongoing journey home.”

- Merrill, Therapist, Social Worker, Researcher & Supervisor

"Angela brings a beautifully compassionate presence that shows up each week to encourage and affirm everyone in her trainings. I appreciated her intellectual part that clearly explained the intricacies of IFS, and her wise, confident part that demonstrated how powerfully this model can support both us and our clients.

Through Angela’s teaching, I’ve come to see that every part of myself and my clients simply wants to be understood for the role it plays. My clients now recognise that their protector parts are trying to help in their own way, which has brought greater compassion and understanding when those inner voices appear. Thank you so much, Angela, for creating such a safe and affirming learning space.”

- Nicola, Counsellor & University Lecturer

“I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the IFS model. It is clear that Angela not only knows this model thoroughly but teaches it with great passion and clarity. The opportunity to practise the model, receive feedback, and observe others was invaluable. It was inspiring to see how each participant could bring their own personality and strengths into the process. The course provided a genuinely safe space to learn and grow, I felt supported by both Angela and my fellow participants throughout. Angela’s responses to our questions were always clear, thoughtful, and deeply informative.”

- Rebecca, Psychotherapist

"The IFS and Somatic Embodiment Training was more than just a course, it was a life-changing experience. Angela created an environment for learning and growth unlike anything I have ever encountered. She is approachable, responsive, welcoming, and genuinely loving. Her depth of knowledge and experience as an IFS therapist shines through in every session.

Even with almost no prior experience, these twelve weeks gave me the confidence to begin offering this beautiful method of healing. I went in to learn about IFS and came out a different person. I cannot recommend this training highly enough.”

- Monica - Yoga Teacher & Coach
